Take the Trip

On our social media platforms, many of us have a sweet button that takes us back to the many memories that we have posted over the years. Some of us can’t believe we posted what we did years ago and are so thankful we aren’t the same person we used to be. I am pointing at my self here. Thank you, Jesus!

Yesterday, I had in my Facebook memories a post from 2018. I was sitting in my floor selling items to help me attend a mission trip with my church that following fall. Little did I know what the Lord would do in my heart in the process.

As soon as my pastor announced this two week adventure to SE Asia I had this tug at my heart. I knew I needed to say yes to this trip. I wasn’t sure why, but I knew God was telling me to say yes. I will say it wasn’t an easy yes. I serve and lead a ministry myself, so how in the world would this work? I agreed to attend the interest meeting, but I had a little talk with Jesus beforehand.

Lord, if you really want me to go to SE Asia it’s going to have to be the right timing. I trust that you’ll provide the funds, but I need the dates to be just perfect. I would love to see the Lords face when I’m having these conversations with Him. One day I will and I cannot wait to sit at His feet.

At the interest meeting, I was sitting with great expectation of what the Lord was going to do. My eyes began to bulge outside my head when they announced the dates. I love how God is in every detail of our lives if we will let Him! The trip fell perfectly when the Pregnancy Resource Center is closed at Christmas!

Now the funding. My husband shared his concerns of how did I think we were going to come up with an extra THREE grand for this so called trip. I didn’t know, but I knew God would provide. I cannot tell you how the money came in. I did make an effort to sell some excess material items I had and T-shirt’s to help, but not $3,000 worth.

Let me tell you…God provided! Like He always does. Days leading up to this trip flew by and before I knew it we were embarking on a plane ride that would change my life forever.

I cannot pinpoint why God wanted me to go, but all I know I was willing. I can remember saying, “Lord, I have no idea why you want me to go. All I do know is there is a reason.”

There was a reason indeed and I cannot wait to share more of how God used us during our time in SE Asia.

What I do want to share now is—take the trip! Say YES to God and let Him work out all the details. You’ll be glad you did!

To be continued…

As I celebrated New Year’s with my new SE Asia friends, God had given me a word for 2019. My friend graciously wrote my word in their language.

Ephesians 6:19 (NKJV) and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,
